Birmingham City announce quartet of first team departures

Birmingham City have announced the news that four players will be leaving the club when their contracts come to an end this summer.

The Blues issued FAWSL Full-Time with an official club press release which confirms that Charlie Estcourt, Eleanor Ryan-Doyle, Lily Simkin and Mollie Green will all be moving on.

Welsh midfielder Estcourt is arguably the highest-profile departure with the player having made 21 appearances for The Blues in all competitions this season.

Youngster Simkin made nine appearances for Darren Carter’s side while midfielder Green and forward Ryan-Doyle spent the second half of the campaign on loan at bottom club Coventry United with both players having struggled for game time with their parent club.

Birmingham City have also confirmed the news that talks are ongoing with some other first team players while the club have opted to release eight members of their academy side.

After being relegated from the Barclays Women’s Super League at the end of the 2021/2022 season, Birmingham City recovered well in their first campaign in the second tier and they were beaten to promotion by just a single point. Head coach Carter has transformed the fortunes of the Midlands club but he will want to freshen up his squad with some new faces over the summer.
