Leicester City happy to try and prove a point against Brighton says Kirk

Leicester City head coach Willie Kirk says that his side are happy to try and prove a point against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

The Foxes travel to Broadfield Stadium to contest their final game of the season. Leicester City go into the final day two points clear of bottom club Reading.

Leicester City could have secured their top tier status last weekend when they took on West Ham United at The King Power Stadium. On one of the rare occasions this season, The Foxes were heavily fancied to win the game but they went down 2-1.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City boss Kirk said that his side are happy to be in a position where they have a point to prove again.

“The players have definitely been on it (this week), they all want to be in that team to prove a point,” Kirk said.

“We had got to a stage where we were proving everybody wrong and then it had almost flipped on its head and last week, we were almost scared to let people down. We went from everybody doubting us to everybody believing in us and it almost felt like the players were a little scared of letting people down.

“I’m glad to be back to proving people wrong again and we’ve had a really good reaction in training.”

Latest opponents Brighton & Hove Albion have had four different managers this season. Kirk went on to say that preparation for this weekend’s fixture has been tough but his side are ready for their latest test.

He said “It has been really tough because they have had a number of managers and they’ve played a number of styles. Even last week, they changed their style to something that we haven’t ever seen from them. We’ve been preparing against two different shapes, two different ways of them setting up.

“They’ve certainly improved since the change and they’ve picked up points when some people were beginning to doubt if they had it in them. They’ve strung together a couple of real strong results which have put them in a safe place.”

Leicester City’s final Barclays Women’s Super League fixture of the season at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
