Liverpool defender Fahey signs new deal

Liverpool defender Niamh Fahey has signed a contract extension with the club.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this afternoon.

Fahey joined Liverpool in 2018 following a short spell with French club Bordeaux. The 35-year-old Republic of Ireland international has claimed the captain’s armband while she has made 106 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions over the course of the last five years. Fahey is one of the most experienced players in the Liverpool squad and her know-how is certainly something that will be needed by The Reds again next season as they look to build on a successful campaign in 2022/2023.

After signing her new deal, Fahey said “It was an easy decision and I’m delighted to extend my contract at this fantastic club – I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. I’m already massively excited for next season.

“I’ve been here five years, seen a lot of changes but the position we’re in now as a club is really exciting and the future looks really, really bright. I’m delighted to be a part of it and keep pushing the club higher up the table.”

Further squad news will be announced by Liverpool in due course.
