Birmingham City have completed the hugely impressive signing of utility player Ellie Mason on a two-year deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this evening.
Mason moves to St Andrew’s on a free transfer after recently leaving Birmingham City’s Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Lewes. The 27-year-old operated at full-back, in midfield and in attack during her time at The Dripping Pan while she boasted the honour of holding the captain’s armband. Mason ended the 2022/2023 campaign as Lewes’ top goalscorer with nine goals in all competitions after finding her home at the top end of the pitch.
Birmingham City have listed Mason as a defender but given her goalscoring exploits last season, the club will surely consider fielding her in attack.
After signing for the Blues, Mason said “I’m really excited to be here, and I can’t wait to get going.
“I’ve heard really good things about the Club and last season was a really strong one for them. For me, when I had the opportunity to come here, it was something I really wanted to do.”
Mason becomes Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
