Aston Villa have completed the signing of former West Ham United defender Lucy Parker on a free transfer.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this morning.
Parker joins Aston Villa after leaving former club West Ham United last week upon the expiry of her contract at The Chigwell Construction Stadium. The player has signed a two-year deal with The Villans with the option of a further year.
After starting out with Arsenal, Parker played college football in America with LSU Tigers and UCLA Bruins. She returned to England in 2021 with West Ham United. The 24-year-old made 28 appearances for The Hammers in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
On the international stage, Parker has been called up into the England squad but she is still awaiting her senior debut for the Lionesses.
After securing Parker’s services for Aston Villa, head coach Carla Ward said “Lucy is someone we’ve tracked for some time and we know we had a lot of competition to sign her.
“She’s a front-footed ball-playing centre-half and is someone who will add a lot of quality to our defensive unit.”
Parker becomes Aston Villa’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
