Crystal Palace have announced the news that they will play their home fixtures at the VBS Community Stadium in Sutton this season.
The Eagles confirmed the ground move this morning via a post on their official club website.
The move brings an end to Crystal Palace’s nine-year stay at Bromley FC’s Hayes Lane ground. Crystal Palace have played all of their Barclays Women’s Championship fixtures at that venue to date, other than a small number that were moved to Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace’s new home of the VBS Community Stadium has a capacity of more than 5,000. A new pitch has been installed by landlords Sutton United in recent years whilst improvements have been made off the pitch to bring the stadium up to EFL standards. Crystal Palace will be hoping that lots of fans travel to Gander Green Lane this season to cheer on their team in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
After the move was announced, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “This is an exciting new start for Palace Women, playing at a historic, local stadium that will be familiar to many of our supporters and we hope to attract fresh support for the club.
“We are hugely grateful for Bromley FC’s long-standing support for Palace Women and we would like to thank them for their hospitality over many years. The move is in large part driven by the WSL requirement for a grass pitch.”
Crystal Palace’s 2023/2024 fixtures in the Barclays Women’s Championship will be revealed at 10am this morning.
