Chelsea’s teenage full-back Cerys Brown has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.
It has been reported that Brown has signed a one-year deal with Chelsea while the club hold an option to extend the arrangement by a further 12 months.
Brown has come through the youth system at Chelsea and she was the most-used player by the club in last season’s WSL Academy League. The defender had the second-highest appearance tally in the whole division last season, only Brighton & Hove Albion’s Olivia Carpenter was handed more outings. Brown has a big future in the game and she will continue her development with Chelsea for at least the next 12 months.
After agreeing to retain Brown’s services for another year, Chelsea’s general manager Paul Green said “Cerys has been outstanding in our academy and we’re really pleased to give her first professional contract. She has worked really hard and was the Player of the Year for the academy last season. She’s an athletic, young defender and we look forward to seeing her develop further in the upcoming years.”
Brown becomes the first Chelsea youngster to sign professional terms with the club this summer.
