Liverpool to face top European competition at AMOS Women’s French Cup

Liverpool will play some top European competition in pre-season with The Reds set to participate in the AMOS Women’s French Cup.

The Merseyside club confirmed their place in the competition via a post on their official club website earlier today.

Liverpool are one of four teams that are set to battle it out for the AMOS Women’s French Cup. The other sides are French club Paris Saint-Germain, Italian side AC Milan and Spanish top flight club Atletico Madrid.

Tournament fixtures are yet to be confirmed, however, it is understood that Liverpool will play a one-off semi-final tie against one of the other participating clubs with the winner qualifying for the final and the loser contesting a third-place play-off.

It has been reported that the semi-final ties will take place on Monday 28 August while the final and third-place play-off will be staged on Thursday 31 August. All matches will be held at the Stade Michel Bendichou in Colomiers, in the South West of France.

Liverpool’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Manchester United participated in last year’s AMOS Women’s Franch Cup. The Red Devils ended the tournament as runners-up to German club Bayern Munich.
