Chelsea defender Milne joins Southampton

Chelsea’s teenage defender Isabel Milne has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Southampton ahead of the new season.

The Saints announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Milne is an England youth international defender who is very much an exciting prospect for the future. At club level, she has never featured in the Chelsea first team, however, she was a regular at WSL Academy League level last season. The youngster made 20 appearances for The Blues in the league while she netted one goal.

After serving her time in youth football, Milne is ready to experience the senior game and she will be hoping to get some minutes under her belt with new club Southampton this season.

After securing her move to St Mary’s Stadium, Milne said “I’m really excited to be here!

“It’s a really ambitious club, looking to make it up to that next level and as a young player coming into that environment, it’ll be great for my development.

“There’s a mix of younger and experienced players here, which shows that there’s a pathway, which is important for me too.”

Milne becomes Southampton manager Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
