Sheffield United have promoted teenage duo Darcie Sugden-Brook and Fallon Connolly-Jackson to their first team squad.
The Blades announced the news this afternoon via posts on their official club website.
Both players are 17-year-old defenders. Sugden-Brook has been playing development football for The Blades after joining the club from York City’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) while she also spent time with Hull City last season. Connolly-Jackson has come through the Sheffield United academy system.
Following her promotion to the first team squad, Sugden-Brook said “It’s a big step up from last year and nothing that I’ve done before, so it’s exciting. Coming back from Hull, I saw a different side to myself. My game got a lot more physical, it opened up my game and I’m looking forward to developing this season.”
Teammate Connolly-Jackson added “It feels brilliant. I’ve been in the academy for five years and stepping up to the first team feels unreal really. It’s been a really good experience to have, it’s a different type of game, it’s so much faster and that experience has been really good for me.”
Sugden-Brook and Connolly-Jackson could be part of the Sheffield United first team squad for the first time when they travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
