Brighton & Hove Albion sign Colombian international defender Carabalí

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Colombian international defender Jorelyn Carabalí ahead of the new season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Seagulls this afternoon.

The 26-year-old has joined the Sussex club after spending a period with Colombian side Deportivo Cali. She was a Liga Femenina BetPlay DIMAYOR winner with the club in 2021.

On the international stage, Carabalí made her senior debut for the Colombian national team in 2021. The defender has made 33 appearances for her country and represented Colombia at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.

The player will now test herself at club level outside of South America for the very first time with Brighton & Hove Albion.

After securing Carabalí’s services, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Melissa Phillips said “We’re delighted to have Jorelyn with us. This is her first taste of football in Europe, but we saw from her performances in the World Cup this summer that she has so much to offer in terms of her ability and mentality.

“We look forward to working with her, integrating her into the squad and helping us achieve our targets this season.”

Carabalí becomes Brighton & Hove Albion’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
