Australian international midfielder Cooney-Cross joins Arsenal

Arsenal completed the signing of Australian international midfielder Kyra Cooney-Cross prior to the international transfer deadline at midnight last night.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners in the early hours of this morning.

Cooney-Cross joins Arsenal following a spell playing her football with Swedish club Hammarby IF. The player has also enjoyed two spells with Melbourne Victory, either side of a period with Western Sydney Wanderers, in her career to date.

On the international stage, Cooney-Cross has 35 senior caps for the Australian national team. She represented her country at this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

After sealing her move to Arsenal, Cooney-Cross said “I’m so excited to join this club. Arsenal just felt right as soon as I heard about the interest.

“I’m really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at Emirates Stadium in front of a big crowd for our first game there this season. I can’t wait to get started and help us achieve something big together.”

Cooney-Cross is believed to be Arsenal’s only bit of business on Transfer Deadline Day. The Gunners have had a very productive transfer window which has seen them sign five new players.
