Ticket sales for Arsenal’s WSL opener against Liverpool exceed 50,000

More than 50,000 tickets have now been sold for Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League season-opener against Liverpool.

The two sides are scheduled to meet at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm).

Tickets for the match have been selling well and the club recently announced that sales had reached 45,000. WSL Full-Time have now received a further ticket update from Arsenal this afternoon which has confirmed the news that 50,000 tickets have been sold.

The current record for ticket sales for a single Barclays Women’s Super League match stands at 53,737 while the attendance record is 47,367. Both of those records were set for Arsenal’s North London derby fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium last season. With four days to go until the Liverpool game, it is very possible that those existing records could be smashed.

Arsenal go into the new season looking to bounce back from their Round 1 exit in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. With no European football, The Gunners have their full focus on domestic action. Meanwhile, opponents Liverpool have recruited well over the summer and they will be keen to push on towards the top half of the table this season.
