England assistant boss Veurink awarded honorary MBE

England’s assistant coach Arjan Veurink has been awarded an honorary MBE in recognition of his contribution to association football.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Football Association this evening.

Veurink has played a major role in supporting England head coach Sarina Wiegman since her appointment in September 2021. The pair have continued their formidable partnership that has rolled on for several years.

With Wiegman and Veurink leading the team, England have enjoyed their greatest period of success, inspiring the nation along the way. The Lionesses were UEFA Women’s EURO winners for the first time in 2022 while they were FIFA Women’s World Cup finalists last year as they ended the tournament as runners-up. In addition to the EUROs, England have also won the Women’s Finalissima along with two Arnold Clark Cups.

After being awarded an honorary MBE, Veurink said “I am very proud to receive this honour, for me a recognition of the amazing work on and off the pitch by the Lionesses.

“I can’t thank enough those people who support me both personally and professionally on a day-to-day basis. Also, a special word of thanks to the FA for their continuous belief in us as staff and players on this incredible journey.”

England begin their European title defence next month when they begin qualification for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
