Manchester United defender Blundell announces pregnancy

Manchester United defender Hannah Blundell has announced the news that she is pregnant.

The 30-year-old full-back announced her news via an official club video earlier this afternoon.

Blundell will miss the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Super League season as a result of her pregnancy and she will not compete in any contact training with the squad. The player will receive the full support of the club throughout the process.

Revealing her news, Blundell said “Today, I’ve got some good and bad news. The bad news is that I’m out for the season but the good news is that I’m pregnant.

“I’m really happy, the family are really happy. It’s great news for myself and my family and something that I wanted to share with the girls, the club, the fans and I’ve finally been able to do that.”

Blundell joined Manchester United in summer 2021 after leaving former club Chelsea. The defender has made 65 appearances for The Red Devils in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored two goals. Blundell was an Adobe Women’s FA Cup winner with Manchester United last season. She played the full 90 minutes as Manchester United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in the final at Wembley.

Manchester United kick-off the new season without Blundell when they face West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday 21 September 2024.
