Former Birmingham City midfielder Isabelle Linden could feature for current club 1. FC Koln when they take on FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga leaders VfL Wolfsburg at the AOK-Stadion on Friday afternoon.
The German top flight returns this weekend with reigning champions VfL Wolfsburg taking on the side who are currently second-bottom of the table.
Stephan Lerch’s side have an eight-point lead at the summit but the situation is very different for newly-promoted club 1. FC Koln who find themselves two points from safety ahead of the restart.
One player who could feature for The Billy Goats against the She-Wolves at the AOK-Stadion is former Birmingham City midfielder Linden. The 29-year-old returned to the city of her birth in 2018, ending a one-and-a-half year stay with the FA Women’s Super League 1 club.
During her time with Birmingham City, Linden made a handful of appearances including an outing from the bench in the 2016 FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup final, a game which the Blues lost 1-0 to Manchester City at The Academy Stadium after extra-time.
Linden returned home to join 1. FC Koln in January 2018 and she was a member of the side which secured a return to the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga last season. The midfielder has made 11 league appearances for Willi Breuer’s side so far this season, although most of her outings have come from the bench. The 1. FC Koln number 10 will be hoping that she can help her side down the champions if given the opportunity to impress on Friday.
