Chelsea forward Mara Alber has joined German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club Werder Bremen on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 20-year-old German youth international joined Chelsea from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim last summer and she signed a four-year contract with the South West Londoners. Alber is very much one for the future and she has found regular playing opportunities hard to come by so far. The youngster represented Chelsea in pre-season but is still awaiting her first team debut for the club.
Alber needs more regular game time to further her development and she will now get that back in her native Germany with Werder Bremen. Alber joins a Werder Bremen side who are enjoying a positive season in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga. The River Islanders are currently occupying third place in the league table and they are set to record their best finish as a professional club to date. Their record in 2025/2026 can only be bettered by league heavyweights Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg.
Alber could make her Werder Bremen debut when the club return to action following the winter break on Sunday 25 January 2026.
