Burnley sign former Bristol City keeper Burns

Burnley have completed the signing of former Bristol City goalkeeper Jackie Burns on a free transfer.

The Clarettes announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this evening.

Burns joins Burnley after leaving former club Bristol City earlier this summer. She has signed a two-year deal at Turf Moor with the option of an additional year.

The 29-year-old keeper enjoyed two spells with Bristol City. She represented The Robins in 2024/2025 before returning to the club on a short-term deal in the second half of last season. The player provided some strong competition in her time at Ashton Gate.

On the international stage, Burns has represented Northern Ireland on 69 occasions.

After joining Burnley, Burns said “It feels really good to be here.

“It’s nice to finally get it over the line and be here with the girls, and I’m really looking forward to the new season.

“I had a chat with the staff and the manager, and everything that they said aligns with what I want to do moving forwards.

“The more we talked, it felt like the right time to come to Burnley and push on with them in the Championship.”

Burns arrives at Burnley on a day which has seen fellow goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon extend her contract by another 12 months. She also has an option of an additional year.
