Linfield midfielder Chloe McCarron is understood to be close to completing a move to Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Birmingham City according to press reports in Northern Ireland.
The Belfast Telegraph have today reported that a deal between the player and the Blues is thought to be close with McCarron set to be a Birmingham City player prior to the start of the 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season in just 10 days’ time.
The 22-year-old midfielder is a senior international for Northern Ireland having first been brought into the fold back in 2017. McCarron has been capped by her country at senior level on seven occasions, most recently in the nation’s goalless draw with Wales in November last year.
McCarron in a three-time Irish Premiership Women winner with Linfield while she has also helped guide The Blues to the Women’s Premiership League Cup.
New Birmingham City manager Carla Ward is currently working hard to assemble her squad for the upcoming Barclays FA Women’s Super League campaign following her recent appointment at the SportNation.bet Stadium. The former Sheffield United boss has brought in attacking midfielder Christie Murray so far but is thought to want to add up to seven further new faces to her group in the coming weeks.
Birmingham City start their 2020/2021 campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion at The People’s Pension Stadium in Crawley on Sunday 6 September.
