Young Swedish defender Filippa Wallen has left West Ham United and has joined Cypriot club Apollon Limassol according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The 20-year-old defender joined The Hammers in January but her time with the East Londoners was severely hindered by the suspension of football due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Wallen made her West Ham United debut in the club’s 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Rush Green in January but she enjoyed just one further outing in a claret and blue shirt, in the 4-2 win against struggling Liverpool over a month later. Both of those appearances saw the player introduced from the bench by The Hammers boss Matt Beard.
It has today been revealed that Wallen has completed a move to Cypriot club Apollon Limassol. The defender will have a great opportunity to test herself further in Cyprus with Wallen joining the nation’s most successful women’s football club.
The player had spent the early days of her career in her homeland before the brief spell at West Ham United. Wallen represented both AIK and IF Brommapojkarna before moving to Rush Green. She will now be hoping for some long-awaited on-field minutes with latest club Apollon Limassol.
