Liverpool captain declared fit ahead of meeting with The Addicks

Liverpool manager Vicky Jepson will have captain Niamh Fahey available for selection once again when The Reds take on Charlton Athletic at Prenton Park on Sunday according to reports on The Reds’ official website.

The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international featured in Liverpool’s opening FA Women’s Championship fixture of the season against Durham but was missing as The Reds won 3-0 at London Bees last time out with the player nursing a minor injury.

Fahey’s absence did not make any real impact upon the squad with Jepson’s side dominating the proceedings at The Hive and in truth, securing a very simple victory which could have even been by a greater margin.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash against an improved Charlton Athletic side, it has been revealed that Fahey has recovered from her knock and she is expected to lead her team out against The Addicks.

Fahey was named the new Liverpool captain on the eve of the new season. She replaced fellow centre-back Sophie Bradley-Auckland who is currently taking some time out protecting the residents of her family-owned care home from Coronavirus. The defender joined Liverpool in 2018 following a spell in France with Bordeaux and is now one of the longest-serving players at the club.
