Leicester City will be plotting another giant-killing in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup when they take on Manchester City in the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes are the last second tier side remaining in the competition following their extra-time victory over Barclays FA Women’s Super League side Reading at Farley Way in February.
Leicester City are one of the favourites for promotion to the top flight this season and they have collected four points from their first two league games. Jonathan Morgan’s side defeated Blackburn Rovers 3-0 on opening day while they drew 2-2 at promotion rivals Sheffield United last time out.
The club’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup adventure started with a 3-1 victory at Burnley in round four before Paige Bailey-Gayle’s extra-time winner against Reading in the fifth round saw Leicester City defeat The Royals 2-1 following a 1-1 draw in normal time at Farley Way.
Current Vitality Women’s FA Cup holders Manchester City have failed to impress so far this season. They were gift wrapped a 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on opening day while they were unable to break Brighton & Hove Albion down in a goalless draw at The Academy Stadium last time out.
City defeated bitter rivals Manchester United 3-2 in what was the big tie of the fourth round at The Leigh Sports Village while they secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup with a 10-0 demolition of minnows Ipswich Town.
