Liverpool trio expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the year

Liverpool manager Vicky Jepson has indicated that Jade Bailey, Jess Clarke and Kirsty Linnett are likely to be out of action for the remainder of the year through injury according to reports on The Reds’ official website.

The second tier club exited the FA Women’s Continental League Cup with a Merseyside derby defeat at Everton last night while Jepson’s side are three points adrift of league leaders Durham in the FA Women’s Championship.

Liverpool face three opponents in the FA Women’s Championship before the Christmas break but manager Jepson has been dealt real blow with three of her players set to be sidelined until 2021. It has been revealed that midfielder Bailey is likely to be missing until mid-January while forwards Clarke and Linnett are not expected to be available for selection until Liverpool return to action after the Christmas break.

There could yet be a fourth long-term absentee for The Reds with Rhiannon Roberts’ injury currently being assessed by the Liverpool medical team.

Liverpool face a pretty tough run of fixtures before they sign-off a turbulent 2020 in which the club were controversially relegated from the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on a points-per-game basis. The Reds host an unpredictable Crystal Palace side at Prenton Park following the international break before travelling to improving London City Lionesses and league leaders Durham.

Jepson’s side are one of four clubs who hold realistic hopes of lifting the FA Women’s Championship title. Liverpool currently find themselves in third position in the league table just two matches prior to the halfway point of the 2020/2021 season.
