Manchester City will be hoping to reach the round of 16 of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League by recording another positive result against Swedish side Goteborg in the second leg of their round of 32 tie at The Academy Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Gareth Taylor’s side hold a 2-1 lead from last week’s first leg in Gothenburg and Manchester City are therefore in a strong position to qualify for the next round of the competition.
Manchester City head coach Taylor has no new injury concerns to contend with following his side’s 2-1 Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory over Arsenal at the weekend. Defensive pair Aoife Mannion and Megan Campbell remain sidelined with their respective injuries but returning forward Lauren Hemp could be handed further minutes as she looks to continue her return to full fitness.
Marcus Lantz’s Goteborg side have not been in action since being narrowly defeated by City a week ago. The Swedes are not thought to have any fresh injuries and could line-up similar to how they did for the first leg.
Manchester City’s UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 32 second leg tie against Goteborg is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm on Wednesday afternoon and will be available for fans to stream live on City+.
