PREVIEW: Everton v Manchester United

Everton and Manchester United will complete their respective FA Women’s Continental League Cup group campaigns when the pair meet at Walton Hall Park on Wednesday.

The fixture was originally scheduled to take place in early November but storm damage to Everton’s home stadium saw the game postponed on safety grounds.

Everton must record a large victory over Manchester United if they are to have any chance of reaching the quarter-finals of the competition as a best runner-up while the visitors have already been eliminated.

The Blue Girls boss Willie Kirk will again be without injured quartet Gabby George, Rikke Sevecke, Claire Emslie and Valerie Gauvin while goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela is sidelined with concussion. Everton are likely to have around 15 fit players to face United therefore manager Kirk’s starting XI could virtually pick itself.

Manchester United boss Casey Stoney is likely to make several changes to her side with The Red Devils already eliminated. Swedish defender Lotta Okvist and forwards Jane Ross, Katie Zelem and Ivana Fuso are amongst the players who could be considered for starts while first choice goalkeeper Mary Earps is likely to be rested.

The FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture between Everton and Manchester United is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening and will be available for fans to watch live on MUTV.
