PREVIEW: Manchester United v Bristol City

Manchester United will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table when they take on bottom club Bristol City at The Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils currently hold a three-point advantage on second-placed side Chelsea who won’t play this weekend due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the club. The postponement of their home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur means that Manchester United could be a minimum of four points clear should they defeat struggling Bristol City.

Manchester United boss Casey Stoney will be without attacking duo Lauren James and Alessia Russo for her side’s final fixture of 2020 but otherwise, The Red Devils are thought to be in good shape with no new injury concerns.

Bristol City midfielder Aimee Palmer continues to be sidelined and is therefore unable to face her former club. Defender Jas Matthews and Australian international Chloe Logarzo could also again be missing for The Robins. These injuries could mean that manager Tanya Oxtoby names a youthful bench.

Manchester United’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick-off at midday on Sunday and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
