PREVIEW: Liverpool v Leicester City

Managerless Liverpool will hope to give their faltering promotion hopes a shot in the arm when they take on FA Women’s Championship leaders Leicester City at Prenton Park this afternoon.

Former boss Vicky Jepson left the club last week with The Reds eight points adrift of the summit and having just one game in hand. Given the sizeable gap between Liverpool and top spot, this afternoon’s fixture is therefore a ‘must win’ game for the Merseyside club in their quest for promotion.

Liverpool could have trio Rachel Furness, Ashley Hodson and Jess Clarke available for selection once again with those players having been pictured back in training this week. It is unknown whether the unnamed players who were forced into self-isolation last week will be available for selection this afternoon.

Leicester City boss Jonathan Morgan could welcome Sophie Barker and Paige Bailey-Gayle back into his side after the pair missed Thursday’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. Goalkeeper Demi Lambourne continues to be sidelined with long-term injury and new signing Sophie Harris will again deputise on the bench.

Liverpool’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against Leicester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
