Former West Ham United attacker Jacynta Galabadaarachchi has joined Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) club Celtic.
The 19-year-old Australian youth international forward joins The Ghirls ahead of the proposed restart of the league season in the middle of this month. Fran Alonso’s side have not played since 13 December with the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) season having been suspended as a result of the lockdown north of the border.
Celtic announced the signing of Galabadaarachchi in a post on their official club Twitter account this evening.

Galabadaarachchi spent a little over a year with Barclays FA Women’s Super League club West Ham United. The player made 17 appearances for The Hammers in all competitions before leaving the East Londoners in September to move to Italian Serie A side SSD Napoli. Galabadaarachchi made four appearances for the Azzurre in her brief stay in Italy.
During her time at former club West Ham United, Galabadaarachchi came up against her new boss at Celtic, Fran Alonso. The forward was fielded by The Hammers in their 3-1 FA Women’s Continental League Cup group stage victory over Alonso’s former side Lewes at Rush Green.
Galabadaarachchi was offered a trial by Manchester United as a nine-year-old and she later trained for a short time with Manchester City. The player remains highly-rated and she will be hoping to finally reach her full potential north of the border with Celtic.
