PREVIEW: West Ham United v Manchester City

Manchester City will be hoping that a win will prove to be enough for them to lift the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title when they travel to The Chigwell Construction Stadium to face West Ham United this afternoon.

City trail league leaders Chelsea by two points and need to win and hope that Chelsea lose, although there are various other mathematical possibilities if the two sides end up on the same number of points.

West Ham United go into the match already assured of Barclays FA Women’s Super League football again next season. Manager Olli Harder will be without some key first team players for his side’s latest fixture. Defender Lois Joel and forwards Adriana Leon and Leanne Kiernan continue to be sidelined with long term injuries. The Hammers have one of the smallest squads in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and manager Harder is likely to keep faith with the side which held Aston Villa to a goalless draw at Villa Park last weekend.

Manchester City travel to East London without captain Steph Houghton who continues to battle to regain fitness following a troublesome injury while Chloe Kelly has damaged her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and could be sidelined for the remainder of the year. Full-back Megan Campbell has had a further injury setback and won’t be involved.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between West Ham United and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm and will be broadcast live on BT Sport Extra 2.
