FA Women’s Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United have completed the loan signing of midfielder Mollie Green from Manchester United according to The Blades’ official website.
The 22-year-old midfielder has struggled for first team opportunities at the Leigh Sports Village this season as a result of the high level of competition for places at the FA Women’s Super League side.
Green joins The Blades on a loan deal until the end of the season and will go straight into the squad for Sunday’s FA Women’s Championship battle against Aston Villa at the Proact Stadium in Chesterfield.
The player came through the academy system at Liverpool before joining Merseyside rivals Everton after finding first team opportunities with The Reds hard to come by. Green helped Everton win the FA Women’s Super League 2 Spring Series title in 2017 but was released by the club the following year.
Manchester United picked Green up in summer 2018 ahead of their debut season in the FA Women’s Championship and the midfielder played her part as The Red Devils cruised to the league title, earning their promotion to the top flight.
Green’s last appearance for United came in December as Casey Stoney’s side won 3-1 at Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
