Former Brighton & Hove Albion defender joins Juventus

Former Brighton & Hove Albion defender Matilde Lundorf has joined Italian giants Juventus according to reports on The Black and Whites’ official website.

The 21-year-old Nottingham-born defender left Brighton & Hove Albion last week after rejecting the club’s offer of a new contract.

Lundorf has taken no time in finding herself a new club with the player today being unveiled at Italian side Juventus. The former Danish youth international joins a Juventus side who have won three consecutive Serie A titles on the spin.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Hope Powell signed Lundorf last season with the player moving to The People’s Pension Stadium following a spell with Danish club VSK Aarhus. The defender made eight appearances for The Seagulls in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, helping her side keep two clean sheets against Bristol City and Birmingham City.

Lundorf spent some of her youth in the academy set up at French club Paris Saint-Germain. The player failed to make the step up to senior level with The Parisians and moved to Danish side VSK Aarhus to launch her senior career. Lundorf spent three years at the Veijby Stadion prior to her move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Four years on from her big opportunity with Paris Saint-Germain, Lundorf now has the opportunity to test herself at the very top level with latest club Juventus.
