Bristol City have confirmed that defender Jemma Purfield has joined the club according to reports on The Robins’ official website.
Purfield recently announced that she was cutting ties with former club Liverpool after their relegation to the FA Women’s Championship was confirmed.
The former Doncaster Rovers Belles and Durham player, who joined former Liverpool back in January 2019 from American College side Arizona State Sun Devils, has today joined Bristol City, committing herself to The Robins for the next two seasons.
After signing her contract with Bristol City, Purfield said “I’m delighted to have signed for Bristol City. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to work with the staff and players at the club.
“I’ve heard great things about the club and city, I can’t wait to get on the training pitch and prepare for what is shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.”
Purfield is Bristol City’s fourth signing of the summer so far, in the wake of Ella Mastrantonio, Megan Wynne, and Aimee Palmer all penning deals with the South West side. After a difficult 2019/2020 campaign, it appears that manager Tanya Oxtoby is well on her way to establishing a squad that can give a good account of themselves in the coming season.
