Former Lewes fans’ favourite Sarah Kempson has returned to the club ahead of the new season according to reports on The Rookettes’ official website.
The 29-year-old midfielder represented the club during their first campaign in the FA Women’s Championship back in 2018/2019 and she gained huge respect from fans of the Sussex club.
Kempson appeared in 19 of Lewes’ 20 games in their first season in the second tier while she netted four goals for the club as they finished the season in ninth position. It has today been reported that the midfielder has re-joined Lewes for the coming season, becoming manager Simon Parker’s fifth signing of the summer following the recent additions of Laura Hartley, Ellie Hack, Georgia Timms and Hannah Griffin.
Since starting out at Chelsea as a 14-year-old, the player has gone on to represent Brighton & Hove Albion, Portsmouth and Lewes at senior level but it is on the beach where Kempson has really made her mark. The former England youth international has represented both her country and Great Britain at beach soccer. Kempson was a European champion with England in 2017 while she was crowned World Player of the Year in the same calendar year.
Kempson has been handed the number 10 shirt by Lewes for the coming season.
