Former Arsenal midfielder joins West Ham United on short-term deal

Former Arsenal midfielder Ruby Grant has joined West Ham United on a short-term deal according to reports on The Hammers official website.

The 18-year-old has agreed to join US college team the North Carolina Tar Heels but has been training with West Ham United throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has today been reported that the teenager will represent The Hammers going into the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League with the player having agreed a short-term contract at The Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Grant played a cameo role in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League for former club Arsenal. The youngster made two appearances for The Gunners in their 2018/2019 title-winning season while she was named in Joe Montemurro’s matchday squad in the top flight on 10 occasions last season.

The teenager’s greatest showing in an Arsenal shirt came in the 2018/2019 Women’s FA Cup when she netted a hat-trick in a fourth round tie against Crawley Wasps, a game which The Gunners won 4-0. Grant’s latest club West Ham United went on to make a first Women’s FA Cup final appearance that season, losing 3-0 to Manchester City at Wembley.

Grant becomes West Ham United manager Matt Beard’s sixth new addition of the summer so far.
