Experienced midfielder Ciara Watling has signed a new contract with Charlton Athletic for the coming season according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.
The 27-year-old rejoined the South East Londoners in January following a spell playing for Charlton Athletic’s second tier rivals Crystal Palace.
Watling made three appearances in the FA Women’s Championship for Riteesh Mishra’s side prior to the 2019/2020 campaign being brought to a premature end due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The player will be hoping to really make her mark at The Oakwood in the coming season after today agreeing a new contract with the club.
Upon signing her new deal, Watling told Charlton Athletic’s official media sources “I’m delighted to re-sign for the club, I was really enjoying my new journey with Charlton however with the season being cut short due to the pandemic, I only ended up playing a few games.
“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, I feel fully settled with the club and it’s looking extremely positive with a few great signings and the players who have re-signed.
“It’s been a really refreshing pre-season, a great mood and vibe around the club. We are all working hard and bonding well, it’s a brilliant group including all of the staff. I can’t wait for the season to start now!”
The Northern Irish international becomes the eighth member of Charlton Athletic’s 2019/2020 squad to commit their immediate future to the club.
