Arsenal will finally return to UEFA Women’s Champions League action tomorrow night when they take on French side Paris Saint-Germain in their quarter-final tie.
The tie is being played on a one-off basis behind-close-doors on neutral territory in the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian.
The Gunners have enjoyed an easy path to the last eight, recording a 6-0 aggregate victory over Fiorentina in the last-32 before seeing of Czech side Slavia Prague 13-2 on aggregate in the last round. Joe Montemurro’s side were set to face Paris Saint-Germain in March but the competition was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Arsenal go into the match without goalkeeper Lydia Williams who has an ankle injury but captain Kim Little is available after recently returning to fitness following a period on the sidelines. Summer signings Steph Catley, Noelle Maritz and Malin Gut have all been included in The Gunners squad.
Paris Saint-Germain have had similar ease in reaching the quarter-finals. They saw off Braga 7-0 on aggregate in the last-32 before defeating Icelandic side Breidablik UBK 7-1 over two legs in the last-16. The Parisians returned to competitive action almost a fortnight ago when they lost 4-3 to Lyon on penalties in the Coupe de France final following a goalless draw after 90 minutes.
It is understood that the French side have a fully fit squad ahead of their showdown with the 2018/2019 English champions.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm and will be screened live on BT Sport 1.
