Birmingham City announce signing of Northern Irish international midfielder

Birmingham City manager Carla Ward has completed her third signing with the addition of Northern Irish midfielder Chloe McCarron according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 22-year-old joins the Barclays FA Women’s Super League side from Irish Premiership Women club Linfield where she has spent the early days of her playing career.

Negotiations between Birmingham City, Linfield and McCarron are thought to have moved on quickly throughout the course of this week with reports in the Northern Irish media advising of the move on Wednesday morning.

McCarron joins Christie Murray and Rachel Corsie in moving to the SportNation.bet Stadium this summer to join the Ward revolution at Birmingham City. Ward is still hoping to add further players to her squad before the Blues travel to Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend of their opening fixture of the 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.

During her time playing in Northern Ireland, McCarron has won the Irish Premiership Women on three occasions with Linfield while she was also a Women’s Premiership League Cup winner with The Blues. The midfielder has also made her mark on the international scene with McCarron having been capped by Northern Ireland on seven occasions at senior level.

McCarron is Birmingham City boss Ward’s second signing of the day following the loan signing of Corsie this morning.
