Former Leicester City defender Lucy Johnson has completed a move to Nottingham Forest ahead of the 2020/2021 FA Women’s National League North season according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 18-year-old England youth international defender was expected to move from Leicester City to American soccer club the Arizona State Sun Devils earlier this summer but it has today been revealed that Johnson will begin the 2020/2021 campaign as a Forest player.
Johnson came through the Leicester City Regional Talent Club (RTC) before going on to feature for The Foxes at first team level. The youngster made nine appearances for Leicester City at senior level in the FA Women’s Championship last season, netting her only goal for Jonathan Morgan’s side in their 3-3 draw with London Bees at Farley Way. She also appeared for Leicester City in both the FA Women’s Continental League Cup and Women’s FA Cup.
The teenager joins a Nottingham Forest side who occupied third position in the FA Women’s National League North last season prior to the campaign being declared void as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. At the time of the cancellation, Forest had the fourth-best defensive record in the league.
Johnson will be hoping to play her part in improving the club’s ‘goals against’ tally after becoming a red earlier today.
