Former Manchester United midfielder Mollie Green has joined Birmingham City on a free transfer according to reports on the Blues’ official website.
The 23-year-old left United last week after coming to a mutual agreement to terminate her contract at The Leigh Sports Village.
Green has not been without a club for long with the player being unveiled at Birmingham City. The move came as no real surprise with the midfielder having been linked with the Blues last week while she previously played under her new manager Carla Ward during a loan spell at FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United earlier this year.
In her first of two years with former club Manchester United, Green made 27 appearances for The Red Devils in all competitions while she scored 16 goals. The player struggled for first team opportunities in her second year following Casey Stoney’s side’s promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League resulting in her loan move to Sheffield United.
Green could make her debut for Birmingham City against former club Manchester United on Sunday. The pair go into battle at the SportNation.bet Stadium in Solihull in what will be new Blues boss Ward’s first home match in charge.
Birmingham City lost their opening fixture of the season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.
