Both Birmingham City and Chelsea will be looking to quickly get over their Vitality Women’s FA Cup defeats to Everton when the pair meet at the SportNation.bet Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors were defeated 2-1 by Everton in the quarter-finals last weekend while Birmingham City lost 3-0 to The Blue Girls in their semi-final tie in midweek.
Prior to their Vitality Women’s FA Cup defeat to Everton, Birmingham City had started to show some real promise under new head coach Carla Ward and she will no doubt be setting some high expectations for her side against Chelsea this weekend. Defender Georgia Brougham could return after being ineligible for the Everton fixture while the likes of Jamie-Lee Napier, Abbi Grant and Chloe McCarron will be pushing for starts.
Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions Chelsea will be equally as keen to make amends following their cup exit which was their first loss in 90 minutes since April 2019 when they were defeated 2-1 by Lyon in a UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final tie.
Chelsea boss Emma Hayes will decide whether to hand recent signing Pernille Harder her first start in The Midlands. The Blues boss will also determine whether to field goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger against her former club or go with England international Carly Telford. The likes of Melanie Leupolz, Guro Reiten and Beth England could also be considered for starts.
Birmingham City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available to stream live on the FA Player.
