Birmingham City confirm signing of former Villa goalkeeper on dual registration terms

Birmingham City confirmed the signing of former Aston Villa goalkeeper Daniela Kosinska ahead of last night’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture at Blackburn Rovers.

The 19-year-old is understood to have joined the Blues on dual registration terms from FA Women’s National League North side Stoke City who she will continue to represent.

With first choice Birmingham City goalkeeper Hannah Hampton carrying a knock, Kosinska was thrown in for her debut at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium and she kept a clean sheet as Carla Ward’s side won the match 1-0 courtesy of Claudia Walker’s second half goal.

The injury to Hampton is not thought to be serious with the England youngster having been named amongst the Birmingham City substitutes last night. Head coach Ward will be hoping to have the player available for Sunday’s trip to Reading in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

The signing of Kosinska was confirmed by the club on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off last night.

Prior to joining Stoke City in the summer, Kosinska spent time with Birmingham City’s local rivals Aston Villa. She made one appearance for the club in the FA Women’s Championship last season as they won the league title on a points-per-game basis. The player was released by the club at the end of the season ahead of Villa’s debut campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
