Brighton & Hove Albion fixture too soon for Arsenal’s injured midfield duo

Arsenal’s fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday will come too soon for injured pair Jordan Nobbs and Kim Little according to The Gunners’ head coach Joe Montemurro.

When speaking to Arsenal’s official media team following his side’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup group defeat at Chelsea last night, Montemurro said that Nobbs and Little are suffering slight hamstring issues and they are unlikely to be risked in Sunday’s game at The People’s Pension Stadium.

Arsenal’s 4-1 defeat at Kingsmeadow last night now means that the North Londoners have lost back-to-back matches on the road. It is the first time since September 2017 that The Gunners have collected that unwanted record. They will now look to return to winning ways against a Brighton & Hove Albion side who have already prevented Manchester City from scoring this season.

The lengthy Arsenal injury list hindered the club’s progress last season and head coach Montemurro has already had some players unavailable to him this season. Goalkeeper Lydia Williams, Dutch international Jill Roord and forward Lisa Evans could all again join Nobbs and Little on the sidelines this weekend.

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League form has been very different to their form in the domestic cups. The Gunners are top of the league after winning their first three matches.
