Manchester United boss Casey Stoney has handed a first start to United States international Christen Press as her side prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this afternoon.
The 31-year-old forward joined The Red Devils on a one-year contract last month and has made two substitute appearances for United to date.
Press played 13 minutes as she made her first appearance from the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend while the forward got half an hour under her belt as Manchester United lost 3-1 at Liverpool in midweek in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
After making her full debut for United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup, another United States international in Tobin Heath retains her place in the starting XI at Spurs this afternoon while fellow summer transfer window signing Alessia Russo also starts after scoring in the 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester United will move top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table, at least for 24 hours, with victory at The Hive. Stoney’s side are unbeaten from their opening three matches of the season, collecting seven points in the process. United have beaten both Birmingham City and Brighton & Hove Albion while they held reigning champions Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in Leigh on opening day.
