Reading goalkeeper Grace Moloney has been included in Vera Pauw’s final Republic of Ireland squad selection for next week’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifier against the Ukraine.
The 27-year-old was selected in the initial 30-player Republic of Ireland squad for last month’s qualifier against Germany in Essen but she was axed as part of head coach Pauw’s squad reduction.
Moloney put down a solid marker for her inclusion this time around with the player having starred in a 1-0 victory for her club Reading at West Ham United prior to her initial call-up. The keeper pulled off a couple of excellent saves and kept out a second half penalty kick as The Royals collected three points.
The FAI have this morning announced head coach Pauw’s final squad selection for the upcoming qualifier against the Ukraine with all English-based players being retained from the initial squad, including Moloney. The Reading keeper is joined in the squad by fellow Barclays FA Women’s Super League stars Courtney Brosnan, Harriet Scott, Denise O’Sullivan, Megan Connolly, Katie McCabe, Leanne Kiernan and Rianna Jarrett. FA Women’s Championship players Niamh Fahey, Alli Murphy, Hayley Nolan and Ruesha Littlejohn have also been named.
The Republic of Ireland take on Ukraine in Kyiv next Friday with the match kicking-off at 5pm BST.
