PREVIEW: Reading v Manchester City

Reading and Manchester City will both be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointments in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when the pair go head-to-head at The Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

The Royals slipped to a surprise 1-0 home loss to Birmingham City last time out while Manchester City were defeated 3-1 at title rivals Chelsea.

Reading go into the match with no fresh injury concerns. Midfielder Fara Williams could be reinstalled to the starting XI after coming off the bench last weekend. The likes of Kristine Bjordal Leine and Danielle Carter could also be considered for starts.

Manchester City make the long trip south without Megan Campbell, Aoife Mannion and Lauren Hemp who continue to be sidelined with injuries. Head coach Gareth Taylor has a decision to make on whether to implement changes to his side. Alex Greenwood, Esme Morgan, Janine Beckie, Georgia Stanway and Rose Lavelle are some of those players who could be considered for starts.

It was Manchester City who won last season’s fixture. A Pauline Bremer double helped Nick Cushing’s City side to a 2-0 victory over The Royals at Adams Park.

Reading’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm and will be available to stream live on the FA Player.
