Tottenham Hotspur defender Anna Filbey has pulled out of the Welsh squad with the player struggling with an injury which she sustained in Sunday’s North London derby defeat at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old played the first 57 minutes against The Gunners at Meadow Park before having to be replaced by fellow defender Siri Worm for the remainder of the match as Spurs crashed to a 6-1 defeat.
Filbey has been selected in Jayne Ludlow’s Welsh squad for this month’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Norway but it has today been revealed that the defender has had to withdraw due to her injury.

Filbey has made two senior appearances for Wales to date. She made her debut in the nation’s 1-0 UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying victory over Belarus in October 2019 while she played 84 minutes of Wales’ 1-0 defeat to group leaders Norway in Oslo last month.
Wales will face the Faroe Islands at Rodney Parade in Newport on Thursday afternoon before taking on Norway in what promises to be a huge match at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday. Manager Ludlow is not thought to be set to draft in a replacement to her squad to cover Filbey’s withdrawal.
