London City Lionesses will be looking to record back-to-back victories in the FA Women’s Championship for the very first time when they host promotion-chasing Leicester City at Princes Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Pride defeated London Bees 2-1 in their last home fixture and an impressive victory over their latest opponents will see them record a new feat.
London City Lionesses head coach Melissa Phillips is not thought to have any new injury concerns to contend with ahead of her side’s meeting with The Foxes. Those players who have returned to the club from international duty this week are believed to be in good health.
Phillips could opt to make changes to her side after watching The Pride lose 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers last time out. Hannah Short, Alli Murphy, Ellie Mason, Kallie Balfour and Freda Ayisi are amongst some of the players who will be hoping to be given starts.
Leicester City make the trip south with some good news on the injury front. The club have this week declared Holly Morgan, Sam Tierney and Freya Thomas fit, giving manager Jonathan Morgan plenty of selection headaches. Forward Hannah Cain remains sidelined with a broken foot and is the only absentee.
London City Lionesses ran out 3-1 winners last time they faced Leicester City at Princes Park. Ylenia Priest, Leanne Cowan and Evie Clarke were all on target for the hosts that day while Simran Jhamat netted a late consolation for The Foxes.
Sunday’s meeting in Dartford will again be played behind-closed-doors while a full match replay and extended highlights will be available on the FA Player after the game.
