Everton’s Conti Cup clash with Manchester United postponed on safety grounds

Everton’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture against Manchester United which was scheduled to take place at Walton Hall Park this evening has been postponed on safety grounds.

FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were informed of the news in an official press release from The Football Association earlier this morning.

It is understood that there have been some safety concerns raised relating to Walton Hall Park following a period of high winds and it has therefore been concluded that it is in the best interests of both clubs to call tonight’s game off.

Both Everton and Manchester United were defeated in their opening fixtures in this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup. Willie Kirk’s side went down 3-1 at Manchester City while United were defeated by the same scoreline by Liverpool at Prenton Park. A victory this evening would have been hugely important for both Everton and Manchester United if either club is to continue their involvement in this season’s competition beyond the group stage.

The fixture is likely to be rearranged with further details to be provided in due course following a consultation between both clubs and The Football Association.

Both clubs are next in action on Sunday in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Everton travel to Chelsea while Manchester United host Arsenal.
