Coventry United attacker Maz Gauntlett has received the news that she has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
The 31-year-old forward netted a superb 30-yard strike against Leicester City eight days ago in a 9-1 defeat but hobbled off after 75 minutes of the fixture at the Butts Park Arena.
The player’s injury has now been assessed and it has been confirmed that Gauntlett has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Coventry United confirmed the news this evening via their official club Twitter account.
We can confirm that midfielder, Maz Gauntlett has sustained an ACL injury and will have to undergo surgery.
The club and our medical team will now help Maz with her recovery and support her in every way possible.

Gauntlett will need surgery on her injury and she will have to spend a number of months on the sidelines. The player is likely to have to watch on for the remainder of the season as Coventry United look to retain their FA Women’s Championship status for a third year.
The experienced forward has made nine appearances in all competitions for Jay Bradford’s side this season in which she has scored one goal. Gauntlett is a Coventry United legend with the player having spent a number of years representing in the club she will be missed during the second half of the season.
There was some good news for the Warwickshire club yesterday with young forward Shannon O’Brien having returned to the side following injury, although it wasn’t enough to prevent Bradford’s side losing 1-0 to Blackburn Rovers.
