Defender hopes that London City Lionesses can replicate form against Coventry United

London City Lionesses defender Hannah Short is hoping that her side can replicate their recent good form when they take on Coventry United at Princes Park this afternoon.

The Pride have won back-to-back home fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship and are beginning to display the kind of good form that they are more than capable of.

Melissa Phillips’ side recorded their most impressive result so far this season last time out when they defeated promotion-chasing Leicester City 4-1. When speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time last week, defender Short highlighted that performance as a marker for this afternoon’s fixture against Coventry United.

“I was sat in the stands (during the Leicester City game) and I was clapping, some of the football which we played was excellent” she said. “We are on form and have some confidence and hopefully, we will take that forward and replicate that performance against Coventry.”

Just one point separates the two sides going into this afternoon’s fixture and Short believes that Coventry United will come to Princes Park and make things difficult despite their recent losing run of five matches.

She added “They are a hard-working side and always come out and put up a fight.

“I think we will have a greater physical presence just because we train more often and I think that against Leicester in our last match, we played some of our best football to date.

“If we take the momentum from that, we can really punish them and score some goals because they have conceded quite a few.

“It is an opportunity for us to pounce on that and take three points.”

London City Lionesses’ FA Women’s Championship fixture against Coventry United is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm this afternoon and will be available to stream live on the FA Player.
